Well progress comes with many faces. I suppose getting her in the shade under cover for the first time since May '09 when I got her is a step in the right direction.

Its been a long process but, Lucky is in her new home. Just positioned my work table and backed her in this morning. I haven't been this excited about cleaning her since I got her. When I put her away last October I did a full service including pumping all the ethanol fuel out and replaced it with race fuel. I haven't uncovered her in 6 months. She is gonna get some lovin today.

I can now precede with my plans to restore her completely. Step one get her clean again.

Paul called when I just laid down to rest after the primer coat. I wasn't smart enough to wear a respirator. I had the exhaust fan going and all the doors and windows open. It got me pretty good. I don't remember complaining.
Had a couple friends, Griswald and Rich help with the final coat. We all wore masks for that. Good thing the top coat was much stronger. I could still taste it when I was done.

Still lots to do but, I am in. Spent all day yesterday cleaning Lucky and the trailer. Waxed the hull sides. Getting ready to go out and rub her some more.

1985 30' outboard boat. Of course in pieces. New aluminum trailer. I am not exactly sure on what I am going to do to it yet. I do plan on reducing the weight as much as possible. I think I am going to cut the fuel tank down from 160 to 80 gallons.

Nice. What deck does it have? I wouldn't worry too much about making it lighter. The boat carries weight well. I suspect the tank is long and low anyway. Just don't fill it up. I would keep the capacity.

A stock B 30 race boat would go nearly 70 with stock 200's. There were a few with triple 2.4's not sure how fast but would guess near 90. A pair of 250 3.0 liters would probably make for a fun boat.

Bridgeports were 2.4 in '88. Great engines. 2.5's followed.

Mark start a thread. I have an '85 brochure to share.

Let's get back to Lucky now that Mark has started a thread for the new Velocity project.

I've yet to see pics of the outside of the shop Jim, and tell the guys about your workbench. No one's gonna walk off with it!

Since day one I have been wanting and needing to pull engines, pull heads, replace springs and exhaust valves, trannies need to be gone through port side leaks and clutches are apparently warped. While they are out the typical detail in the engine box. Provide a place for a through hull transducer. Replace gasket on transom assemblies.

The big question is whether or not I fill and re cut the transom now or latter. I am definitely going to do it so I will probably do it all at once.

Also going to send my steering back to Latham for a re polish and refurbish and replace the cable inside.

Of course the list will grow with surprises. I am sure some hoses will get replaced and a detail to engines will take place.

The boat came with a folder full of stuff including this Performance report. The boat shows the drives mounted to the rail. Mine are 3 inches lower.
