What is the difference between Gimbal Bearing 30-60794A4 and Gimbal Bearing 30-862540A3?
Other than 20 bucks?
Can the same oil seal be used with both?
ALSO - I am replacing both bearings and carriers since I have the assemblies off and they are easy to get to, is there any reason to replace the oil seals for peace of mind or should I just pass on that?
Thanks,
Eric

It has a dot on it and is offset fwd in part to allow for the bigger cross bearings. I expect the seal is the same on both. I just looked it up everything bravo and Alpha GENII now calls for the latter number. The first is for older alphas.

Thanks Jim.
Any comment on whether or not there is any reason I should replace the oil seals?Last edited by Seafordguy; 05-13-2009 at 10:48 AM.

I don't believe it to be a wear item. I think it has been added to keep the grease contained so it doesn't make a mess. It may also help to keep the bearing dry if the bilge fills fill water. If you are there looking at it might as well change it. There wont be a better time.

Timing is everything - We have a bunch that came out of damaged transom assemblies, they are new never used. I just put them on Ebay for $34.95 each.
