Thanks Lofty dam that was rough!! Was it a drive failure or a rigging(loose bolts) failure? I heard he took it back to Skater and the boat was repaired?

Apologies - Off Thread
Yes is 41 Apache, always located in South of France. Originally was Apache SAM, pictures on Chief Engines website, built by an Italian. Was renamed Twistana several years later when bought by a Frenchman, who painted her white with Indian Head down side. Was resold in bout 2002 and named Hammerhead (paintjob in pics). Sold to different Frenchman couple of years later; story is that on the first day he took her to the beach and left her there, the sea got up and she sank.
Don't know where she is now.

The boat was repaired but I think Peter still has it. I heard all kinds of speculation over what caused the drive failure so I don't know what actually broke. It was off when the 2 boats came together and slapped down the side of Dr Evil. That's why you don't see clean slices from the prop down the side, it looks more like random chopping.

11-09-2008 10:09 AMLofty, Dale's Skater has been repaired and was at the Pittsburg festival, looks great. There were 7 boats involved to some degree or another and all are repaired. Thanks for the copter pics of the accident. I have been trying to get the video shot from the air of the Skater flying over my boat. I thought it would be fun viewing this winter. Any connections to any other pics or video would be appreciated. I have lots of pics of my damage, but would like to see video of the events leading up to the wreck. Again, everyone involved was very fortunate. Doug

Doug, I've got the vid of the whole thing and Ed running over your boat with the Skater. I promised I wouldn't post that vid but I'll be happy to share it sometime.

11-09-2008 09:01 PMLofty, Email me your contact info or call me and I'll drive to your shop for a copy. You are in the Bay Area? I am whole and all boats are together and there is no legal issues pending. I agree, the footage does not need to be on the internet. The sport has had enough problems and we have all hopefully learned something from them. Thanks Doug 916 539-2540
