    Miami boat show sales
    #1
Does anyone know how sales were at the Miami show?

I know that a few MFG's were banking on sales, just curious if they got them.

I haven't spoken with any performance mfg's or reps yet, but I did speak with a broker I know representing a 100' Benetti yacht and she said she only has one serious prospect. She said most others are just as slow.

I talked to several performance guys. Everyone is slow or worse then slow. Some will admitt some won't. Sales are way down. Some boats are going overseas. Seems everyone just waiting to see.
Good luck to all of them, (and us. )

Fountain had a fighting chance, nice spread.
Baja was most improved in my opinion, they probably sold a few.
Donzi looked like crap, would be shocked if they sold a single boat.
Formula seemed to really lean on the cruiser market but nice spread.
    Cig had some nice TnA.

Baja, Fountain/ Faja looked like crap.

The stitching and the workmenship was lousy. (on Bajas)
THe boat on the show had the hole Starboard side cushion/side peace out of alignment. Looked like it was just "glued" on, and off. Not a show peace by any means. AND they had it "parked" so the louzy workmenship was right by the platform. But the prices were down, so may be it was an OK buy.
Cig.. changed from paint to vinyl at places, OL looked great.. out of price range for todays market.
NT looked good. Midnight Express with the 5 outboard needs to bo be back to quility control. The hull looked like chit. Donzi had the "used" boat on display I seen on several Poker runs, worn anodes, scratched hull. etc.
With todays buyers I would expect better quaility control. I think Hustler had a pretty decent display.

lot's of sloppy late minute paint

    ditto on donzi display...

several $$$$$ boats missing running lights, isn't this BASIC equipment?

big single outboards under 26' were selling... Larson sold 6-7 BIG 34-37 hulls, Striper was doing GOOD

what the hell happened to Whaler?

Concept 32 has a VERY wavy hull, same with one of the Renegades... horrible, and they did them in black?

    Banana was glowing good...

    Invincible was cool....

Everglades should offer quality training as a sideline.. very good people

whats with these HUGE triple outboard express cruisers? Sea Vee?? Concept??

5 engine Midnight was hideous IMO....

I thought paint on Sunsation XRT could have been MUCH better, but they sold it anyways... rest of line showed real well... good booth enthusiasm helped too...

Formula went after the cruiser crowd... but were pushing the leftover 353 and 382 on a chalkboard..

Cig was ho-hum IMO, you seen one step, you've seen them all....

Ilmor is just off the chart cool and classy

    Merc exhibit was top notch

and just how many boat exhibitors do we need to do raffles at $50-$100 a ticket?? ad nauseum...

225K for a 32' boat with black motors???!!! Is it me or am I nuts that this seems insane when you are talking very late model 38 and in some cases 39 TSTG's with 525/575/600 power. Or how about the '07 42 Fountain discussed a few threads ago with 850's.

A friend fo mine just sold his '07 35 Fountain Lightning with 525's and a MYCO trailer WITH 9 HOURS for 150K.

I think it is GREAT for manufacturers in the US to export. I hate to see nice pieces leave, but the US needs to do more exporting of goods. We need to hit up the UAE, and other places where there is plenty of money. I am not opposed to teaching the Chinese how to drive a boat or two if it would bring $$$$ back to the US. The boating manufacturers need to insure that their products don't fall "sub par" and chase the money else where as well.

We all need to do our part to regain our economic power, and the pleasure boating market is no different.

Was told the Miami show was critical for the future of Donzi. Thus I hope they sold product.
Thus the quality of the display.
