brad built jayhawks 454 last year and it runs great. You know I would give to brad and let him rebuild and punch up.

02-11-2009 10:08 PMA good set of cams and a head and carb swap and those things will be like different engines. Exhaust also. Exhaust is the most important part.

I had the same dillemma last fall and was wondering the best course of action to go. After lots of great advice from others, I went ahead and got a fresh set of long blocks and am putting them together with the intake, blowers, accessories, etc. that I had on my existing BBC. That way I had my old set of long blocks to try and recover some money out of. The idea of rebuilding what I had was costing the same money, but this route, I got somethign a little bigger, got a few more inches, and had a set of long blocks to recover somethign out of.
which reminds me, I have a set of Gen V 454 4 bolt long blocks that are being pulled out of my cig next weekend. 525sc's, they are great motors if you wanted to start with a another set of long blocks. email me if interested, they are posted in the for sale -> engines section, 2nd or 3rd link down. I will make you a heck of a deal on them. Mark

Call Brad. He does almost as much work on 454's and 502's as he does high end stuff. He is not above anything. Give him and call and I bet you will be surprised....

I have a complete 330 that runs great, with low hours on it I will sell pretty cheap if you only need to replace one. I think I also have 2 sets of stock merc exhaust if you decide to go stock.

02-14-2009 12:45 PMI know of a 454 Mag MPI here in the Tulsa forsale around 4k, owned by a merc mechanic. You would need to find another but they would be a good drop in, turn key option.
