One for the tech peeps -

In the Welcome to new member Gail Paik! thread:
    http://seriousoffshore.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2941
a link was posted in post #1
    http://www.seriousoffshore.com/forum...ead.php?t=2737
I clicked on it and got the resulting page seen in attachment#1
no SOS logo no visible attachments or avatars

Then I went to the same page without the www at the front:
    http://seriousoffshore.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2737
And got the resulting page seen in attachment #2
SOS logo and attachments are visible

It seems any url that starts with www.seriousoffshore.com has missing graphics or pics. Attachment #3

Most pages look ok with the seriousoffshore.com url (no www in front), although a few of those have missing attachments.

    I use Firefox for browsing if that matters (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.5) Gecko/2008120122 Firefox/3.0.5)

This is really not a big deal, it just bugs me having to edit the address bar to make things work.

    Thanks,
    Adam

    Adam,

I currently am using Firefox 3.05 as well and don't have any of the issues that you have pointed out. Have these always existed since you have been using the site ? Do you have these issues with IE ?

This will be a fun one to try an figure out.

    Regards,

    Techie

I knew the answer to this once, I think it has to do with the zone file on the sites name server.

I have had this issue since the beginning of SOS. Two computers, IE 6.? and IE 7.? and Firefox all seem to do it. Also noticed that sometimes attachments are not visible, graphical or clickable link, in some posts.

So I asked myself what do all these have in common? My firewall. Turned it off and some of my problems go away. Might be a combination of my firewall settings and some settings on the SOS server? It only seems to be on SOS. not on any of the 10 or so other forums I visit.

OK. After reading this thread: http://www.seriousoffshore.com/forum...ead.php?t=2965 , I uninstalled all of the CA Internet crap. Installed AVG virus and turned my windows firewall back on.

So far it looks like all my SOS related issues are resolved. I think it was related to the ad blocking in the CA firewall. Changing those settings changed the way SOS was displayed here.

But seeing as this is the only forum I had these issues on, maybe there is still a setting or something on one of the servers or in a file somewhere that wasn't compatible with some of the settings from my installations of CA.

Oh well. Seems good for me right now.
