The timing of that is tone deaf.

Now, right now, is when we can be saving lives by stressing how important it is to be social distancing. Anything else at present is irresponsible and just more noise. There was already enough non-vetted, not source of truth "advice" out there. The best course right now, is to focus on protecting the health care system by self-isolating. Not making plans. Whether people want your deposit or not. There will be time for events when this national crisis is over.

Personally, I think what they are doing is nuts. The guidelines are nuts, the crazy mandatory closings are nuts, it's a giant over-reaction to a problem that at extreme worst estimates, may kill 1% of the population. 2% of the population dies every year anyway.

153,000 deaths happen worldwide every day, 350,000 births worldwide every day. The ratio needs to be leveled out anyway.

**** happens, get over it! Change your life style, not your life.

I understand. Being closely involved with the safety and well being of 500 patients and 400 employees, I have been learning about this full time for months.
Feb 21 I realized that it was very real, and a threat to our health care system and many citizens that we have not seen in our lifetime.

Around March 15, I realized that this was an intelligence test that most people, sadly, would fail. Science is hard. And when people so willingly substitute politics for science... well...

Sadly, the "hoax" posts will not age well.

I'll leave all you professional epidemiologists to your work. Nice to see people's personal acceptable number of dead Americans. Reminds me of Hillary.
Thank God the Americans in 1942 were not such contrary, conspiracy theory weenies.

That is one of the things that drives me nuts, example:

You personally are directly involved with the health care system for people most at risk. But, even though this was reported by the Chinese to the WHO and the US they had a patient who died of this new coronavirus, similar to SARS, and more in critical condition back on January 11. You'd think the "Similar to SARS" would have set off bells everywhere. Instead, our Congress and the media were so tied up with the BS impeachment crap, nobody paid any attention.

    First US case, January 21.

Yet, it wasn't until Feb 21 that they had given even you enough information to know how deadly it could be for those you help and work with. That really bugs me. For us, it's our decision. My friends who are older, and especially those who have any type of issues with possible any disease or cancers underlying, we help. We pick up groceries for them and have them placed in plastic bags which are dropped off outside. They wear gloves to open everything, and spray gloves with Lysol and use hand sanitizer. That way they don't have to expose themselves any more than is absolutely necessary, etc.

With proper review of this disease, instead of all on the impeachment, that should have been happening for those you work with and those they assist back in January, early Feb at the latest.

Just my opinion. It's our duty to help protect those most at risk, we can all make up our decisions for ourselves.

By the way, I want a Viking type funeral!!!

    I really don't think so.

The overreaction, or crazy reaction, is politics in my opinion. But the threat is real. I still believe 1% to 2% of the population is at risk, and may very well may pass away from this.

I also believe, it's not the right thing to do to disrupt the entire western world to the tune of Trillions to save maybe half of that 1% to 2%. Callous probably, but someone has to do stuff based on cost/benefit analysis.

If less than 1/2% pass, I will admit I'm wrong and they did the right thing.

I think the population, last major numbers are from 2018 I think, were 7.4 billion people and around 50 million deaths. (Over twice that many births).
