With a long tradition of offshore powerboat events, West Michigan has proven to be a great host and is once again prepared to showcase high-performance boats from all over the state and beyond. The 2019 West Michigan Offshore’s Rock The Coast event takes place July 19-21 with over 75 boats registered, including Cigarettes, Skaters, Outerlimits, Apaches, Powerquests and more. Spectators can watch the boats in Grand Haven parade out to Lake Michigan at 5 pm on Friday and 10 am on Saturday. In Holland, boats will be near the channel at 11 am and then Parade down to Boatwerks for Lunch.

“We have 2 exciting runs taking place during the Rock The Coast Weekend, the first being the Keith Holmes memorial run taking place on Friday night July 19,” commented Roger Zuidema, President of West Michigan Offshore. Boats will leave the GH Municipal Marina and travel to the Grand Haven Pier at 5 pm. “We were saddened when a legend in the offshore powerboat boating/racing industry passed away too quickly on July 30, 2017, but left a legacy as an innovator while motivating and entertaining many with his competitive spirit on the racecourse. We wish to honor him with a high spirited run from Grand Haven to Muskegon with a supper at the Mart Dock in Muskegon.”

Saturday’s happenings include the Rock The Coast Harbor Hop which gathers boats from ports of West Michigan. Muskegon boats will take off at 9:30 AM to gather in Grand Haven near the Municipal Marina. Boats will parade out the Grand Haven harbor starting at 10 am, running down the coast gathering more boats at Port Sheldon, Holland and Saugatuck, making their way back to the Holland Channel at 11:15 am. The Parade of Flags will take place down Lake Macatawa to Boatwerks Holland’s lakeside restaurant for a great lunch.

Participants are asked to be members of West Michigan Offshore Powerboat Club with a mission of bringing together people with a passion for boating and driven to give back to the community. This year’s event will raise money for the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Lakeshore at they match Big with Littles for lifetime change.
