SBI has nothing to offer it appears. Everybody who paid to join SBI last year for the season, required to race in Key West, has no season to participate in that they paid for.

I think it will boil down to the lawsuits SBI has issued to the city.

But, the Monroe County Tourist Development Council, who has the budget to pay entities to put on events in Monroe County, has already paid SBI $150,000 to put the race on. They have acknowledged their contract with SBI just recently in an email. Copy:

The TDC has an Agreement with Super Boat International Productions, Inc. for the Key West World Championship Race in November 2019.

    See page 22:

So, what will the city and RWO do? Are they going to somehow stop SBI from putting on the race they have a contract to put on? Is Monroe County going to make Key West City pay the County back if they stop SBI from putting on the event? Is the County part of the suit with SBI against the City?

    Makes one wonder....

I really think this is going to get interesting.

The Tourist Council funds the events. They already paid the $150,000 to SBI to put the race on. I can guarantee that SBI will not give that money to RWO, (unless ordered to do so by a court), so what will RWO do for funds to put the race on?

To get the race, RWO already promised they would give half of the gate money and half of the parking money to the City.

That's what I mean. This could get really interesting.

It is on their annual statement they have to provide per law though.

Maybe Larry's in with the City and JC's in with the County?

    So...

SBI is knocking on the inside of the coffin lid hoping somebody opens the lid...

    RWO is a pipe dream

and OPA has a better boat count than anybody has had in over a decade, far removed from their home turf no less

Meanwhile the city most famous for offshore races has no clue what the are doing....

It's the OPA/P1/APBA combo that has made a tremendous difference I believe. The forethought to put on that 6 race APBA series has made a huge change of thought among race teams. Without P1 in the mix, none of these teams from overseas would be coming. Japan, NZ, AU, England, Dubai, etc.

And yes, the city council in KW hasn't a clue. But, in their defense, most city councils in this country haven't a clue.
