    Commentary: The Trouble With Refunds

Successful event organizing takes commitment on both sides of the transaction. And why should it be any different? https://speedonthewater.com/in-the-n...m-with-refunds.

Well, not exactly a complete picture of what has happened in the past with some poker run events. One I know of as fact, would not even let the participant who couldn't make it have a refund, but didn't give them their goody bag because they were not there.

The biggest issue I have, your tickets to the ballgame you have the right to give away or sell to some other person, it does not have to be you in attendance. In the case of a poker run I am very familiar with, you cannot sell or give away your spot to someone else. If that were allowed, I would agree with you. Otherwise, I do not.

The money should be refundable, up to a specific time before the event, if you are not allowed to let someone else use your spot. And, if the event is a sellout, the waiting list by the organizers should be utilized to replace you. If they cannot, then you should be able to let someone else use it, either by selling it or giving it away.
