02-28-2019 09:20 AMThe engine is manufactured in Wisconsin, just like the 400R.
This engine is one of the most underrated new developments in outboards in my opinion. The word so far is, almost no difference in top speed for center consoles than the R. The only difference between the two motors I've been able to find out about, the foot is not a speedy, (more beefy), and the max RPM is 6800 instead of 7000.
The big deal to me, and talking with multiple boat builders and charter fishing captains in Miami, the engine can be worked on at any Mercury certified dealer. They do not need the Mercury Racing certified dealer to maintain the warranty if work is needed.
That is a big deal because it was really difficult to find a Mercury Racing certified dealer in many places. Hence many builders would put nothing on bigger than the 350.Getting bad advice is unfortunate, taking bad advice is a Serious matter!!
