09-25-2009 07:05 PMthats the one, its a cut down 24 similar to a cig. I think Nykamp knew the guy and the boat... so I win? the Apache scouts had a different deck. if I recall the story correctly, this wasnt a cig or Apache design, it was just a hull that was "turned" Apache by name and number, nothing special at all except pretty paint.

09-26-2009 08:08 AMsquadron XII also made a 24 and a 27 so the theory of 12 meters does not apply...
Stinson knows his material, in some cases i would prefer to read rather then type...some should do the same...

09-26-2009 09:54 AMwhatever, another prize know - it -all.
Squadron does not denote the model, squadron was the company...THERE WHERE 12 planes in a battle squadron, Aronow was only allowed to make 12 boats per year, so he named his company SQUADRON XII with the circle and star logo that was on the side of 24,27,& 39 foot boats...
I am just explaining the meters comment. Aronow was AMERICAN there was no meter thinking involved...

09-26-2009 09:58 AMSomehow u don't seem to read right !!!!
He was refering to the Squadron 39 feet !!! Is all i am saying !!!
and 39 feet is 11.89 meters.
Nobody sayd the XII means meters ,,somehow there is a little missunderstanding again.
And i did not say your wrong but 39 feet can not be 24 or 27 !!??
But your right ,,,Whatever

09-27-2009 01:10 PMthe Squadron Apache was not an Apache, it was simply a Squadron "named" Apache. I think it may have also been rigged at race headquarters.
Bobby also raced with Kipatrick in what I beleive was the first Cigarette 37'6" Ajac Hawk (now the top gun) when his operations were located in Freeport, NY.
The 28' Apache was also a project Bobby worked on with Don....
The 24' was a Luhrs/Linder design if not mistaken and Bobby got his blessing to build them.
Apache was started before the 41' and before Kramer, McManus et al.

09-27-2009 09:25 PMWait, I think the Kilpatrick Ajac and maybe even the Squadron was rigged at In Service which was before Race Headquarters but I'd have to confirm...
