08-11-2009 12:16 PMRace Headquarters.
Bobby was so successful at making people's boats go fast and do it so reilably that the boats out of Race Headquarters literally mopped up. One year, the APBA awarded him "Crew Chief of the Year". Problem was, he wasn't a crew chief. The RH boats were that dominant.

Bobby walked away from the Kramers and went out on his own while making a deal with Kramer that he would make 35' or less boats and Kramer/McManus making the bigger boats. Kramer and Saccenti even shared booth space together at some boat shows.
Kramer had McManus damn a 41' to make a 35' mold for Bobby so he could compete with the 35' Cig. When Bobby got the mold they found out it was a 36'. The mold was then tweaked by Bobby and co. They added rocker to the back of the 36' and built a new deck mold.
That's what came of the 36' as far as I recall.
