Competitors in offshore racing’s fastest and most exotic class proposed a power decrease for the 2019 season. Here’s why it makes sense, https://speedonthewater.com/in-the-n...imited-expense.

Hopefully, with the changes, there will actually be some competition instead of a parade too.

Plus, the really big deal, both the second and the third place boats in SuperCat (aka Superboat), had a higher average speed for the three days than the second place boat in Extreme.

    Go figure.......

And the fourth and fifth place boats in Supercat both had a faster average speed for the three days than the fourth place boat in Extreme.

And Matt is correct. There was not one Extreme boat who made the entire distance at the Key West Worlds this year. Not one.......

5 of the 6 Supercats went farther than any of the Extremes.

I still think the unlimited supery duperty extremish boats are best served at poker runs.

the couple teams that like competing would be better in 750 class

41.9 Wednesday, 41.9 Friday, and 55.6 on Sunday. Total of 139.4.

Way short compared to earlier years.

so about 135 miles total with 2 multiple day pit stops thrown in and they are changing the rules because they can't get boats to go the distance without breaking, not to mention they have shrortened the laps to the point that they barely get out f the harbor..... Does anybody else read these words, shake their heads and seriously say WTF ???? I don't care how much you spend, how big and bling you your boat is or how cool your crew shirts look,

    You changed your post.....

Did you notice how, on Friday, all of the 800HP Supercats would have taken 1st through 6th place?

yes I kinda got emotional there lol.

the super cats draw all the attention on race day/every year every race I get bombarded with the same questions on the unlimited ,limited partially maybe class.and that is after first lap where did they go ??

Don't hold back.... I realize my views are rather critical, but they are just that, my on views. Though I don't race boats I have spent years competing in other forms of motor sports that have shaped my opinions. I know not everyone would agree with me either whole or in part, just as racing means different things to different people.

Hopefully, the 1100 switch will change that.

I think it's a great idea. The issue will be how many stay in? That will make it somewhat competitive and I'm not sure that is what they want.

Last summer we saw what happens when you have big boats originally designed to hit bumps going fast in a straight line, try to get competitive on short drag race from corner to corner course better suited to unlimited hydroplanes..... People die.

That is why I was saying a 40' with 1100's would crush the rest of the fleet.

As far as the short courses with lots of laps, yes, those boats were not designed for that.

its almost comical watching the 50 footers cavitating and porpoising coming into and out of turn#3 in keywest.

like an elephant running full bore toward a block wall and trying to turn around .
