March 2018 H1 Unlimited Boat Roster Update
    ** edited**

U-1 MISS MADISON- With the passing of crew chief Dan Hoover last month, it leaves a big hole on the team to fill.
The new boat being built at the HomeStreet shop in Tukwila, WA was being led by Hoover.
We've learned that the new build will continue, and the team has or will hire an established boat builder to finish construction of the new hull.
In addition, a new crew chief will also be hired to lead the team in 2018. Many names have been tossed around, but so far no official announcement from the team.
Hopes are to have both new and old Miss Madison's at the June 1st spring training test at the Tri Cities.

U-2 UNLIMITEDS DETROIT- No new information from boat builder/driver Bert Henderson since December on the progress of the former Miss Trendwest hull. Henderson termed the work on the U-2 as being put on a "massive diet". The team also has said they hope to test the boat in the spring, although no date or location has been announced.

U-3 Go3 RACING TEAM- It's been relatively quiet at the Posy County, Indiana shop this winter. But, that's not unusual for Ed Cooper and his off season plans. Most of the Allison work has been completed or is near completion. Later this month, work will begin on some of the decking and internal damage to the hull.

U-7 UNLIMITEDS DETROIT- Hydro News has learned that after the Gold Cup collision that left the lid to the cockpit capsule destroyed to the U-7, the team has acquired one from the former U-22 Webster Racing hull. That hull has been since been sold, but former owner Steve Webster has not divulged who he sold it to. No confirmation on this, but we think Dave Bartush may have purchased the hull, since he already has the lid. Again just speculation on our part.
The team will still choose between this hull and the U-2 for the 2018 season.

U-9 JONES RACING- It's been a quiet off season, comparatively, for this team, which has been busy making modifications the last few winters, to make the U-9 a major contender for race wins and a possible national title.
Crew Chief Jeff and brother Mike Campbell announced they "intend" to retire after the 2018 season.

U-11 UNLIMITED RACING GROUP- Aside from the announcement of a title and associate sponsor for the 2018 season, not much coming from the tight lipped URG team. *Note: We mistakenly posted earlier that the team was working on their backup T-4 hull. Owner Scott Raney corrected us and said they were not working on that hull.

U-12 U-12 RACING, LLC- It's been an extremely quiet off season from the Rob Graham team. No news to report.

U-16 ELLSTROM RACING- The only news coming from the Ellstrom camp is with their off road racing program. No indication if this team will compete in 2018. The hull is being stored at Mike Jones shop.

U-21 GO FAST TURN LEFT RACING- Work continues on the new U-21, with hopes to test at the June 1st spring training session at the Tri Cities. At last check, the new hull was turned over with work being done on the sponsons. They also plan to test the old hull as well at the Tri Cities test.

U-27 WIGGINS RACING- It's been a very quiet winter and very little news coming from the team from Alabama. It's unclear if or where this team willl compete in 2018.

U-99 LELAND UNLIMITED- New driver Aaron Salmon and his team have been hard at work tackling both ends of the hull, which last raced in Detroit last summer and blewover in the Gold Cup. The complete crew hasn't been assembled totally yet, but owner Stacy Briseno told us they hope to be ready for he season opener in Guntersville, Alabama in mid June.

440 BUCKET LIST RACING- This team has seemingly been working all off season long. Work on the sponsons, shaft log replaced, skid fin bracket repairs, facing new props, and the list goes on.
