LAKE OZARK — A boating accident Thursday evening left one man dead and three others injured.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash resulted from a boat traveling upstream at a high rate of speed and striking the shoreline around mile marker 71 at the Lake of the Ozarks main channel.

Daniel Walters, 43, of Battle Creek, Nebraska, was pronounced dead at the scene. Darryn Keith, 48, of Pierce, Nebraska, was seriously injured and taken to University Hospital via helicopter.

Dan Young and Andrew Hrabanek, both of Battle Creek, Nebraska, were taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
The Patrol stated it did not know who was driving the boat when it crashed. It is MSHP Troop F's first boating fatality of 2017.
