Congratulations - Tim Sharkey & Sharkey Images!
From a hobbiest to a well respected professional!
Tim Sharkey has been a member of NJPPC for many years. Tim joined NJPPC to participate in our poker runs and other events but that eventually changed.
One day Tim showed up with an inexpensive "point & click" camera and began taking photos of our events for his own enjoyment. Soon after, when I saw the great shots I asked Tim if the club could have copies of his pics and maybe he could be the "club photographer?"
Soon, Tim's "point and click camera" became a nice high end digital with changeable lenses. Then his equipment grew to a very expensive camera, with HUGE LENSES and today Tim has thousands of dollars invested in cameras, lenses and equipment.
A few years ago I asked Tim if he had ever flown in a chopper? He said no and asked why? I told him that he was the following day and be prepared to snap a few 1,000 photos! He replied that he had never done it before! I responded....YOU WILL AS OF TOMORROW AND I HAVE ALL THE FAITH IN THE WORLD IN YOU AND YOUR ABILITY!
Well, this year I believe is the year that Tim Sharkey "has arrived" and the once novice photographer has grown to become one of the true professionals when it comes to shooting performance powerboats.
In the last 2 years, Tim has shot for not only NJPPC but his photos have appeared Poker Runs America, H2o, Performance Boats and as of this month, a color 2 page spread for Powerboat Magazine.
Congratulations Tim on your work appearing in all of the most recognized performance boating magazines and thank you for the awesome job that you do for NJPPC! Your time and effort and the results of your hours of work are greatly appreciated!
Best Regards,
Dave Patnaude

Wow Dave !!! I am overwhelmed.
It seems like it was only yesterday I was watching Tom Newby shooting my wife and I in the Checkmate on our way to AC. I have been inspired by him ever since. To now have my photos in the same magazine he worked for, I cannot describe the accomplishment I feel.
There are many other photographers out there, but I try my best to get my shots from a different perspective and sell them at a reasonable cost...
I guess there was some small hidden talent born within me but only came to surface in my later years. Who knew?
I recall the days of grammar school where I was "the media guy". I always got the movie projector working. I wish I held onto that throughout the years, but it faded away do to other interests at that time. It just goes to show it is never too late to start something.
I can't thank you and the NJPPC enough for opening this door of opportunity for me.
Who would have ever thought showing up one day at a Poker Run event in a 13 footer would have taken me where I am today.
I have met a lot of great people along the way and truly had some great times and look forward to many more.
Thanks for having the confidence in me to get the job done !
Sometimes people just need that little extra push to get going.
Thanks for the shove ! :drink:
To everyone else, thank you so much for the comments.
It really means alot.
It's good to hear that the photos that have been purchased came out great, because sometimes a photographer may only be as good as the printer that the photos are printed on. You may have a dynamite shot, but if the printer screws it up, its the photographer's reputation that's on the line.
Thank you all once again !!!
