Lucas Oil Drag Boat Races slated April 15-17

The sights and sounds of powerful drag boats racing on the Colorado River will be seen and heard April 15-17 at the BlueWater Resort & Casino during the Colorado River Challenge, part of the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series.

This is the second year the Lucas Oil Drag Boat series has held its spring Colorado River event in Parker. It was moved to Parker from Lake Havasu City due to the high winds on Lake Havasu during the spring.

The highlight of the 2015 event came when No. 807 in the Top Fuel Hydro class, The Spirit of Texas, set a world boat speed record of 274.927 mph. The boat is owned by David and Dewana Kirkland. Scott Lumbert is the driver.

There are different ticket prices for each day of the event. On Friday, the price is $10. The Saturday price is $25 and the Sunday price is $20. An all-session pass is $50. Tickets may be purchased at the gate, at Car Quest Auto Parts in Lake Havasu City or at Spanky’s RV & Marine in Parker.

Parking is free in the BlueWater’s parking lot.
