    If you like an event that not only is loud but vibrates your seat, you have drag boat racing. And if you take a vehicle without wheels and put a top fuel dragster engine in it, put it in the water and drive it 260-plus miles per hour you have the fourth annual John Haas Memorial race.

    Several divisions will run through elimination’s on Friday, June 12, with the finals on Saturday, June 13. The gates open for the elimination series at 9 a.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday for the finals.

    Lake Lucas is the only man-made lake in the world built for the purpose of drag boat racing. The lake is 4,000 feet long, 400 feet wide and eight feet deep. It has covered seating to accommodate a large crowd with camping available at the site.

    Lots of vendors with items of interest to racing fans are also scheduled to be at the race.

    Another treat will be that all drag boat ticket holders on Saturday will be able to walk over from Lake Lucas to the dirt track and view the Budweiser Weekly Series for free.

    Its Kids Night at the races on the dirt track as the stock car drivers gear up for mid-season competition in contested races to accumulate points for the yearly championship.

    Upcoming events to watch for are the Bob Westphal Memorial Cup race on Saturday, June 27. This race will present one of two times the ASCS wing sprint cars and WAR sprints will appear at Lucas Speedway in Wheatland in 2015.

    Top sprint car drivers are expected such as Johnny Herrera, Jeff Swindel and Tony Bruce, Jr.

    The next weekend, Saturday, June 27, the Lucas Oil Speedway will present the Bolivar Herald-Free Press Mid-Season Championship races. This weekly series event will feature the top stock car drivers in the area competing for points in the yearly standings. Discount coupons will be available that week in the BH-FP.

    4th Annual John Haas Memorial Drag Boat Classic this weekend in Wheatland

    It’s time for DRAG BOAT RACING at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri this Friday & Saturday, June 12th-13th!

    The 4th Annual Lucas Oil John Haas Memorial Drag Boat Classic featuring the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series and the wild 250-mph Top Fuel Hydros kicks off on Friday, June 12th!

    “Anticipation has really picked up this week as many of the teams, fans, and campers are already making the trek to the World’s Only Purpose Built Drag Boat Racing Facility located right here in Wheatland, Missouri.” stated Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson. “The Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series conducts nine (9) NationLucasDragBoats15al Events each year across the country and with two (2) of those contested here in Wheatland each year, the response is tremendous from both a fan and a competitor perspective.”

    The 2-day festival of speed, fun, and entertainment kicks off on Friday, June 12th at 9am with a full day of Drag Boat Qualifying, including everyone’s favorite the Top Fuel Hydros, racing down the lake at speeds in excess of 250 MPH!

    Returning this year is the extremely popular “Show & Shine” on the Wheatland City Square from 6pm-8pm on Friday Night featuring “Phat Mike and the Bartenders” Band. The Show & Shine is FREE and will allow fans to get up close to the boats, take photos and get autographs from their favorite boat pilots.

    Elimination Rounds to crown the Champions of the 4th Annual John Haas Memorial Drag Boat Classic will be held on Saturday, June 13th. Gates open at 8am Saturday, with Eliminations slated to start at 9am. A full detailed schedule is listed below including ticket prices, gate times and classes in action.

    The Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series will wrap up eliminations just in time for fans to make their way over to the Lucas Oil Speedway dirt track for a special “Kids Night” at the races Presented by KMIZ ABC 17, featuring the Lucas Oil Speedway Budweiser Weekly Championship Series.

    The Carson’s Corner Napa Factory Stocks will be running a special 25-lap, $500 to win main event courtesy of Rains Ice. Other classes in action on the Diamond of Dirt Tracks Saturday night include, the ALPS Food Store ULMA Late Models, Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds and USRA B-Mods.

    The weekend will be filled with fun activities, give-a-ways, great food, interesting displays and tons of horsepower! Bring the entire family out for a great weekend at Lake Lucas and Lucas Oil Speedway. The Show-Me Beach Swimming Beach, will be open with horse shoe pits, volleyball and tether ball. FREE Bounce Houses, great food from local vendors and more, all await fans of every age!
