FORT SMITH (KFSM) – A Fort Smith man and two Sallisaw men were injured in a boat crash at Lake Tenkiller in Cherokee County on Tuesday afternoon (April 14), authorities say.

Ernest Fletcher, 38, of Fort Smith, Jason Belt, 43, of Sallisaw and Anthony Farris, 36, of Sallisaw were all injured in the incident, according to a crash report from Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP).

Fletcher was taken to Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith and was treated before being released, police said. Belt was flown to St. John Medical Center in Tulsa with trunk internal injuries, according to OHP. He was in stable condition at the time of being admitted to the hospital, the report states. Farris was taken to Northeastern Health System Talequah with trunk internal injuries, authorities said.

On Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., a 1996 Skeeter bass boat being driven by James Williams, 43, of Ganns was heading east from Needle Point to Snake Creek when it was struck by a 1991 Ranger bass boat being driven by Jeremy Bersche, 28, of Sallisaw, police said. Williams and Bersche were uninjured, the report states.

Bersche and Fletcher were both ejected over the starboard side of the Ranger bass boat, authorities said. None of the people involved in the crash were using life jackets, the report states.

The weather was cloudy and rainy at the time of the crash, according to police.
