A boating collision Saturday in Tavernier Creek caused four people to be thrown into the water, according to initial accident reports.
Two boats, one headed north into Florida Bay and one headed south into the waterway's bayside channel, crashed about 6 p.m., Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers say.
"All four people who were ejected into the water came from one boat," FWC Officer Bobby Dube said. "They apparently did not suffer serious injuries."
At least one person on the other boat required medical treatment for a leg injury and was taken to Mariners Hospital.
One of the boats involved was described as a new 22-foot Skeeter. No other information was available on the other watercraft. Investigation into the crash was continuing at press time
