Inbox full indeed, just like Charlie.! Why is it full anyway.

Attached is your Popeye`s boat you were earnestly searching for, unless of course youv`e found it in the interim.

Haven`t posted for a long time. The days when Marco and myself indulged for increasing boat history are long gone.Nobody seems to come up with anything fresh.

Should have added,it was taken at 1981 Halter 200,and doesn`t appear in the result archives,so maybe it never ran in the end.Trust the Brits to solve any U.S. queries.

The only worthwhile proper racing is the Cowes - Torquay - Cowes, which by tradition is still creating a reason to go and face a true challenge.Take this out of the equation and the racing or lack of it, is beset by all sorts of reasons why progress can`t be made to have a racing schedule worthy of the name.I could blow up your server if all the horribles were revealed, but then again the U.S. has or still has similar crosses to bear.

It`s a wonder we can still have an open sea race like CTC,considering if it blows up,your`e asking safety boats to sit out in it for hours on end.So in the end it`s all down to money on just what sort of show your gonna have. It`s quite laughable to have 150 mph monsters created with only 2 miles between turning marks, but if it creates media interest, then the fight to retain true offshore becomes an uphill struggle.

If the will of the competitors was to race in craft that were capable of being self supporting in an emergency, and would do no more then 100mph,then a battle in open seas should be more than enough of an adrenaline rush.It needs the mentality to swing into this mode rather than be waiting for the wake of an another competitor to wipe you out at 130mph on flat seas, having gone nowhere in 40miles other than in circles.

    I rest my case.

    Graham,
We have something going on up here in Scandinavia.
Skagerak Across in Norway, 140 miles opensearacing, and this year the Swedish "Getingloppet" will make a comeback in a costume.
Also some 140 miles at open sea. Will run the same day as "Roslagsloppet" and the finish will be at the same place, Öregrund, later same day.
