ROUSHcharged Raptor 575 by Indmar Awarded 2015 NMMA and BWI Innovation Award for the Inboard Category

First and only emissions certified catalyzed supercharged inboard available in its segment
First and only emissions certified catalyzed supercharged inboard available in its segment
First to integrate ROUSH Performance supercharging technology into amarine engine, introducing ROUSH to the marine industry for the very first time
Most torque ever offered in a towboat
Designed non-traditional catalyst exhaust system that resulted in the most compact catalyst exhaust available and delivers the lowest emissions for a catalyzed supercharged engine in it’s segment
More fuel efficiency than comparable supercharged offerings in it’s segment
Innovative features benefit the end by making boating easier from operation to service

Miami Beach, Fla. Feb 12, 2015 – Indmar Marine Engines, the worlds largest privately held manufacturer of gasoline inboard marine engines was honored today for innovative achievement by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and Boating Writers International (BWI) at the 2015 Miami International Boat Show during the State of the Recreational Boating Industry Breakfast, held this morning at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Organized by the NMMA and judged by BWI, the award recognizes innovative distinction from other products currently being manufactured that benefit the marine industry and consumers; they must be cost-effective; offer practicality; and are available to consumers within 60 days of award receipt.

So what does the ROUSHCHarged Raptor 575 by Indmar have to offer that the others don’t? For one, it is the first and only emissions certified catalyzed supercharged inboard available, the first to bring ROUSH Performance supercharging technology to the marine industry and it produces the most torque ever offered in a towboat; revolutionizing how boat builders will build new models from this point forward.

The innovative minds at Indmar spent more than 3-years, over 5,400 hours in extreme lab, durability and open water testing to deliver a breakthrough engine that will forever change the towed-watersports segment. The all-new ROUSHCharged Raptor 575 provides innovative features that benefit the end user by making boating easier from operation to service and it’s backed with a 5-Year factory warranty. It has more power that’s not only stronger, but also cleaner and more fuel-efficient than comparable supercharged offerings in its segment.

Indmar’s engineering team was able to marinize a block engineered for towing, Ford’s F-Series Super Duty® 6.2L. However, in order to custom build a towsport specific inboard and adapt a block with overhead cams and dual plugs to the marine market, Indmar collaborated with wake and ski experts to design innovative towsport specific components to optimize, protect and adapt the engine to the rugged demands of watersports.

They also designed a superior non-traditional catalyst exhaust system that delivers the lowest emissions for a catalyzed supercharged engine in it’s segment, resulting in a safer, smoother and quieter boating experience. Then, they topped it off with high torque at low rpm ranges to provide torque where and when tow boats need it allowing for faster time to plane and increased loading. But they didn’t stop there; they also added a suite of monitoring systems and intelligent components that make boating easier for the driver by constantly monitoring the driver’s conditions and driver input to optimize the performance and efficiency of the engine while adding an extra layer of protection.

Microsoft innovated and got huge, they had the market, they had just about driven their only realistic competition (apple) into extinction. Then they got complacent, lazy, lost the innovation because they thought they had it all. They are scrambling to fix/replace windows 8, yet another flop everyone hates while Apple back from the brink of extinction is making money hand over fist.

The funny thing about windows.... vista/windows 7 really didnt do anything application wise any different than windows 95 you get a browser, note pad, wordpad, a calculator, solitar, paint whooppee!!! It just uses 100 times the space and resources to do the same thing.

If Merc still had any drive, motivation and common sense, they would havre a 450 hp ls,bravo package avail to builders for sub $15k with a 4~5 year warrenty, selling a ton of them and owning the market. They are busy making 1550 hp motors and 400 hp ob's that very few will ever buy. How many bayliners and rinkers are sold vs 48 mti's??

Not that Merc shouldnt build 1550 and 400 ob;s, but they should be the cream of the crop, not the crop itself.

Gotchya. I have to believe that Merc's sales are many of the smaller IO's and Outboards versus the large ones. I'll see what I can find out.

As the economy continues to improve, boat maker Brunswick Corporation, BC, is seeing good times as is evident by its recent quarterly results and the surge in its stock price, up over 33p in last six months.

Brunswick CEO Dusty McCoy, was on CNBC Friday to talk about who are the new buyers of boats and currency headwinds that the company faces.

With Boat Sales Picking Up In Recent Quarters, Who’s Buying These Boats?

“Two different groups, the top-end of the market is red hot…a lot of our bigger models are completely sold out over the year. Then [point] two is fishing boats, which tend to be smaller, different income level have also now begin to reach pre-recession levels. So, at one of the market and the other end of the market, the market is very powerful, very strong and growing very much.”

How Are You Able To Increase Margins While Keeping The Costs Of The Boat Low?

“A couple of things, we are all over in the boat side of the business working off platforms. So, it used to be that for a new model we would treat it as distinct entities, with [all of our] money , just around one model. Now, we are able to build our platforms and get several models off the same platform, permits us to get a lot of new product to the market at lower cost.”

    Currency Headwinds

“We are 65p U.S., 35p outside the U.S. for all of our businesses […] so currency is going to be a headwind. We have said it’s going to hit on translation 2.5p of sales, 7p of earnings is going to be impacted by the translation, [impact] of the rising dollar.”

This engine is not the first foray in the marine industry for Roush.
