It was. Skegs broke, skidded and dug in on the corection the other way. Is that what happened?
Solid boat and crew survived that at that speed. Amazing.
    Great shots again Pete. Thanks!

In talking with Steve Curtis here at the show, he thought they most likely broke a skeg off on the previous corner causing the boat to take the weird hop in the one they crashed. He said the boat did not barrel roll.

Joe is here also and okay.

Talking with Steve a bit more, I guess the skegs on the boat for the race were the same thinned ones they used to set the record.....

Thordon Bearings’ Pursu Cat powerboat, Cajun 57, finished in the top five of the Super Cat-class of the 2015 Qatar Cup, the Qatar round of the UIM World Offshore 225 Championships.

The three-day event, which includes a one day qualifying stage followed by two days of racing, attracted power boat teams from all over the world, with entrants from the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the Middle East.

Although the eight-crew Cajun 57 team, led by driver/owner Paul Boudreaux, missed a podium slot by just a matter of seconds during the 14-lap race around Doha bay, crew member Jim Bright, said: “Boudreaux is an exceptionally skilled driver with multiple wins in the Super Cat class, but you can’t win every race. We’re certainly looking forward to the next race in the competition.”

The Thordon-sponsored Cajun 57 has a 44ft Kevlar hull and is powered by twin Scorpion racing engines, producing 800hp at 7000rev/min. It also incorporates a Thordon Bearings’ shafting/steering system.

Both Bright and Boudreaux have a long history with Thordon Bearings. Bright is the Engineered Products Manager at Marine Industries Corporation, an authorized distributor of the Canada-based company’s seawater-lubricated shaft seals and bearings; Boudreaux is the owner of Ashton Marine, a full service New Orleans’ shipyard, which routinely installs Thordon products on a variety of offshore vessels.
