Lake Race 2015 to include new race, up to $50k prize

LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — The room was packed and lively: a preview, event organizers hope, of next summer’s first big boat race.

Lake Race made its return to the Lake of the Ozarks in 2013, and saw significant growth in its second year. At a cocktail party on Dec. 9, event organizers revealed two details sure to make the event an even bigger hit in 2015.

The weekend’s racing will stretch onto solid ground with the Lake Race 5K Run/Walk. And the popular Chopper Dropper—in which numbered golf balls are dropped from a helicopter—will award at least $10,000 to a grand prize winner, and based on ticket sales, that number could climb as high as $50,000.

Lake Race 2015 is scheduled for June 5–7.
