WASHINGTON COUNTY, Va. -
UPDATE: Sergeant Jamie Davis with the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries confirms one man was injured Saturday in a boating accident on South Holston Lake.
Davis tells News 5 the man was driving at high speeds when he crashed his boat into a tree. He says the man was intoxicated and taken to Johnston Memorial Hospital for cuts and scrapes to his head.
Davis says the man should be ok.
Washington County, Virginia dispatch says around 6:00 Saturday evening they were called out to a boating accident on South Holston Lake. They say it happened over by the Avens boat ramp.
Washington County Sheriff Fred Newman says a man was injured when a boat hit a group of trees on the water.
That man was taken to Johnston Memorial Hospital near Abingdon for treatment.
The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries is investigating the accident.
At least one person hurt, but the seriousness of those injuries is not known.

07-24-2014 06:27 PMI'm glad the guy is gonna be okay. I don't believe it's too often you run into a group of trees in the middle of a lake like the picture shows........
They said the guy was intoxicated, I wonder if he thought he was totally wasted when he saw the trees? Kinda like seeing a pink elephant?????Getting bad advice is unfortunate, taking bad advice is a Serious matter!!
