    Dan Marauders were built in Costa Mesa by Ernie Kanzler, who if he is still alive lives a reclusive life
    on an island off the coast of Washington State
    I owned one of the four 28's that were built, a magic vessel I would buy back in a heart beat if I could find it
    It's gratifying to see a 24 in such good shape with an owner who knows and understands the blood line

    That is a beautiful example of a well maintained classic.
    I had some unfortunate luck last august off the Oregon coast and have just today started pulling the left engine so I can replace the complete gimbal housing.

    I've inherited my fathers 24' flybridge Maurader. I don't have a tow vehicle to pull it. Any market for these boats?

    I was looking at this thread and question last night and did a little digging. Hull Truth, etc.

    Guessing it has 302s and Volvo 270s. I can see somebody picking this up as a project to screw around with. Maybe somebody on the west coast. (assuming there is enough there to start with.) They wouldn't buy it to use it as a performance boat. More of a novelty kind of thing at 43 years old and regular, not HP rigging. I wouldn't expect to get any significant money for it. (This is sight unseen.)

    Pics might help establish how far it is from running condition and how desirable it may or may not be.

    I owned one of these (flybridge) in the early 90's. Twin 165's pre alpha drives. Originally an orange colored bridge and interior theme. Did a light refit and pulled the 165's out. Repowered w new MerCruiser 3.7LX's. Changed the bridge and interior colors to blue and did an epoxy bottom kote. What a great rough water boat! That thing was tough. Couldn't keep those motors in it though. I should have done a transom job, moved the drive C-C and stuffed in V8's. The little 4 bangers had to run too hard to keep the the boat on top. Got good at changing them out though! Eventually lost the boat to divorce - and would love another one. Best pocket cruiser ever!

    Mine had had a fuel tank problem prior to me owning it. Previous owner had done an internal repair accessed by cutting a 1' X 1' "tank top" into the fuel tank under the V berth. Did a nice job of the flange and tapping the tank for mounting screws. Except they used silicone as a sealant to seal the new top to the tank. That didnt last and made for an intesting voyage home. I think i have some factory sketches around for possible fuel tank replacement - without lifting the deck off.

    Here's a pic of my boat when I picked it up in 1987. For Sale sign freshly removed from the port bow. Big ugly windlass on the foredeck. My buddy Gene threatening to pump grease into a tru hull. And the mechanic trying to de-winterize. I bargained hard for that boat. Played hardball ( I thought at the time) and generally was a dick during the negotiations. Thought I was quite something to get it for my $. Turns out the owner was the nicest guy, only wanted to get it into good hands. And owned a major citrus corporation in the USA. Was his fishing boat while in the area. He must have been shaking his head. But it turned out well, and we stayed in touch for a long time. The guy I sold it to during my divorce ruined it. If I cant find a 28 Donzi Sportsman, I may try to locate this boat again. I have a wave of nostalgia and remorse right now. That usually gets spendy.........

    There was an all yellow flybridge in Vancouver for a long time. Flying Tiger. Twin 165's. Owner said it was the ex Sea Magazine photo boat from the 70's. And another in Seattle w twin 8's. Rumoured to have been involved in an "alcohol related incident". Supposedly ended up impaling a floating restaurant or floating home.

    Now I've done it!! I found my old Marauder. Cant bring myself to go knock on the door this trip. But its obviously been sitting a while and can wait. Till some sanity on my part prevails. Ya, right........ I sense a pair of late model small blocks on Bravos. Pics later.
