    Boaters and non-boaters are invited be a part of the “Marina Experience” and see first-hand the fun and relaxation that boating provides. Learn how marinas help fuel the local economy, and discover that marina operators work hard to protect the waterfront environment. Great Lakes Marina will be hosting a cookout and managers reception. Make plans to join. Parties, open houses and event schedules will be posted on Lake Effect Boating website.

    Smokin the Lake - Muskegon

    The Muskegon Yacht Club is pleased to host the first Muskegon Powerboat Weekend to be held on Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14. Smokin the Lake is an open to the public event, available by land or by lake as boats are invited to the Muskegon Yachts Clubs new docks. Highlights of the weekend include an in water boat show, a burger night, poker run/cruise, parade of power, power party and fish fry.

    Kicking off the event on Friday, June 13 is the B x 3 (Boats, Burgers, Beer) event. Boats will be shown from 4-7pm with the party lasting till close. Featured will be the world class race boats “Cat Can Do” and “Endangered Species”. Hall’s Sports Center will feature the latest speed and pontoon boats. Don’t forget to peek at the classic Chris Craft. The Muskegon Yacht Club famous burgers will satisfy hunger and beer will be available as Miller, Coors and Heineken tents, along with spectacular wines by Banfi.

    Saturday, June 14 is jammed packed with fun. Events start at 12pm, with the boat show running from 12 - 5pm. At 1:30pm free registration for the Poker Cruise/Run will take place, with instructions to follow. From 2-4pm boats will stop at Muskegon maritime hotspots. Poker stops include Lake House Waterfront Grille/Shoreline Inn, Hartshorn Marina/Fricanos Place, and Great Lakes Marina. At 4pm spectators can see the boats in full glory as the fleet meets at the channel entrance inside Muskegon Lake for the “Parade of Power”. Cat Can Do will marshal the parade through the Muskegon Channel, as powerboats are invited to follow. The Poker Cruise/Run last card and awards celebration will take place at 5pm on the lawn of the Muskegon Yacht Club. Awards include "The Best Looking Boat" and "The Best Poker Hand".

    A fish fry and “Power Party” with music by Brett Dame will close the Saturday events.

    A very good event for the first annual. Turnout of over 40 boats, good organization, and nice weather all made for a good time. Congrats to Roger and the Muskegon Yacht Club for an outstanding job.
