    Published: Monday, May. 19, 2014 - 5:39 pm

State Parks and El Dorado County sheriff’s officials report that a body was recovered Monday afternoon in an area of Folsom Lake where the bodies of three of four victims of a May 10 speedboat crash were discovered in recent days.

An El Dorado County sheriff’s vessel patrol located the body about 3 p.m. off the tip of the peninsula on the south fork side of the lake, according to a California Department of Parks and Recreation news release. The crew initiated the recovery and notified the coroner.

Sgt. Chris Felton, a spokesman for the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, said it has not been determined whether the body is that of Jon Smith, 48, the fourth victim of the May 10 crash. He said identification is expected by Tuesday.

On Friday, state Parks and Recreation personnel discovered the first of the bodies, identified Saturday as that of James Andrew Strauch, 47. The bodies of Toby Strauch, 54, and Gerald Jacobs, 53, were recovered Saturday afternoon. All four men are from the Sacramento area.

The group’s Skater 32 speedboat was believed to have been traveling more than 100 mph before it crashed.
