The capital plays host to a racing extravaganza as Powerboat P1 gets set to announce a 30-race powerboat and jet ski series across the UK

The waters of London’s Royal Victoria Dock – one of the capital’s most historic waterfront locations – will play host to the P1 SuperStock & AquaX powerboats and jet skis with a two day exhibition event on 28th - 29th March 2014.

Set in Victoria Docks adjacent to London’s ExCel building and beneath the Emirates Air Line, the white water action will provide a unique spectacle from all angles. The event will be based from the Siemens Crystal building and commence with an open day and press call for special invited guests on Friday followed by exhibition races on Saturday 29th March. Racing action commences on Saturday from 10.00 with freestyle displays followed by fast and furious P1 AquaX racing which kicks off at 11.30 and P1 SuperStock match racing at 14.00.

This event previews the P1 SuperStock and AquaX Championships which get underway in Bournemouth at the end of May and then move on to Hull in June and Cardiff at the end of July as part of a new 5 venue season where Cardiff features as the headline event.

Powerboat P1’s CEO, James Durbin, commented: “London and the Docklands provide the ideal setting for our season launch and we are delighted to have concluded a three-year agreement with the Welsh Government and City of Cardiff for the Cardiff Grand Prix of the Sea to become the feature event of the series. All of our P1 events will again be a double bill of powerboat and jet ski racing, with a total six championship races over the weekend, putting P1 at the forefront of the sport in the UK.”

Powerboat P1 is counting down the days to the start of its USA championships, with six major venues set to be announced in Florida. Stateside action is scheduled to kick off in Daytona on 26-27 April for P1 AquaX and in Stuart for P1 SuperStock on 17-18 May. “Our extensive event line-up on both sides of the Atlantic makes P1 the world’s largest marine motorsport promoter, with a total of 12 events and more than 100 competitors across the SuperStock and AquaX race series,” said Durbin.
