Did it 2 yrs ago. Good time running up Sarasota Bay w/a bunch of bad ass boats. It was 80 degrees
That winter we boated all over S Florida and Sarasota is still my favorite place in the world.
My Sis in the passenger seat. She lives there... lucky girl.

I've been going there regularly since the 70s so I am very familiar and feel at home is a big part but...
Regularly rated #1 best beaches. White sugar sand everywhere above and below the water.
Large protected bay with destinations to go by boat and numerous passes to the tortoise Gulf of Mexico.
Short ride to Tampa Bay/Manatee river to the North (Frost Line I call it in the winter) Casey Key and Venice to the South.
The sun always sets over the water on the Gulf side I still race to the beach every evening to watch it when there.
A large number of offshore boat racers call it home. Keep saying I'm going to try and visit/meet some when down.
Island Park/Marina Jacks/O'Learys Tiki Bar is a premium spot where I've spend too many hours dreaming of the live-aboard sailboats in the anchorage while looking out Big Pass planning winter destinations southward.
Low of 59 degrees there tonight... brrr (as I'm watching it snow from here).
The Keys are awesome (Coral Heads scared me tho). Biscayne Bay was great too but the Atlantic side looses to the sunsets, "green" water and sugar sand IMO.
I still wanna run my boat to Bimini as it looks like close competition.
