I'll email Charlie and see what he knows. As far as I know, Joel Halpern was the navigator in the first Beep-Beep in 1975 with Wayne Vicker and Dick Clark and won the Production Class National Championship. He then moved into the bigger Beep-Beep's, the 38 and then the cats. But the records I've dug up show that original Beep-Beep was a 29' Cary. So, ?

There were a couple of smaller race boats that carried the name of Beep Beep.

One was a 29 footer and the other was a 10 meter, so probably closer to the 32 feet this ad is suggesting.

The boat in this ad has drive holes that suggest it was a staggered set up, so it was probably the S class boat, CARY, shown in my photo with the bow rails and JC Simon driving. The fuel fill caps look like the S class boat also. My guess is this is the boat!

The other 10 meter, COBRA, that is shown has both myself and JC Simon in it coming back from a test session out of the inlet at Fort Lauderdale. He is shown driving away after dropping me off at a waterside restaurant where I was meeting some people....you will notice that boat had side by side drives, that was also powered by two big blocks and the S class was only allowed two small blocks.

Behind the 29 footer Baby Beep Beep, was my new 38 footer under construction in JC's shop in Hollywood. Right across the street was Bill Elswick's shop with Long Shot and a couple of doors down was the prop shop of Knocky House, Don Aronow's riding mechanic. Nice neighborhood if you liked offshore racing.

Time period was in the mid to late 70's

Hi guys. Brand new to the forum. I just bought the "Beep Beep" Cary out of the boneyard today. Hull and deck are in excellent condition. Going to "make it new" again. Wish me luck. Any history on the boat that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.Click image for larger version.

Yes... On Lake Norman. We had a 30' Scarab we stripped down getting ready to redo. Knew it needed a transom, but when we dug in found total rot all the way to the bow, plus it had a half assed fiberglass job raising the cabin on it that was starting to cave. Decided to scrap it. Breaks my heart to have to do it but it was way over the line to consider fixing. Putting the 502's and outdrives off of the Scarab into the Cary. I'm usually a race car/ motorcycle guy but I've done a couple boat redos over the years. This one should be interesting. We'll document it so you'll get to see it all the way through.

As we dig, you may want to watch this. Autographed original, if it is the correct boat, would be a must have.

Congrats on the purchase. Please take many photos as we are starting a new section on HORBA to cover old restorations.

The photo suggested above is actually a 38 foot boat, not the 32 foot boat you purchased.

If you need help, let me know and I will see what I can find in the records for you.

    Welcome JR,
Lake Norman is a great place. We used to rent a house down there every summer near Queens Landing.
Should be a very cool boat when you get her done.

I sent an email off to England to see if they have more info on the boat over there. Does it have a HIN that would positively give us the year??
