Maybe, but I tend to like factory over custom colors on drives.

ponch, I also tend to like factory correct, but this format seems to work. I have a real aversion to "goofy" schemes.

    Amen brother!!! Testify!!

I was not into any of the cartoon themed boats (Batman, Hulk, etc...) Speed Racer was well done, but I wouldn't want to own it.
I don't care for the auto themed boats either (Corvette, Ferrari, etc...)

This was the Dealer and Dean's vision. We have worked with them to carry the colors and themes.

Yup Tim, it's ok for a boat to look like a boat.

I am in Miami and had the chance to see this boat in person yesterday. It is very impressive and very tasteful in the execution. Of course the paint job is a work of art as all of TAOD work is.

The best part of my visit, was watching Bobby going from one detail to the next, in his effort to show me what a great boat this is going to be. When the boat is finished the owner is also getting a work of art with the rigging job too. Bobby has a great passion for doing what he is doing and the results speak of the decades of experience he has, with so many victories in real open ocean racing.

Paul......I hope you noticed the SERIOUS OFFSHORE shirt I am wearing!!!

Ocean Racing???? Yes, and quite a few friends like this guy do also. It might just happen, for one thing we have never stopped working on it and may have something to talk about after the Miami show.

But enough of that, let's focus back on this beautiful boat that is coming to life. It is beautiful!!!!!!

    Ocean racers.

Here you have Magnum racer Ian Toll on the right, some guy named Bob, Mike Bontoft (Dry Martini owner) and some drunk guy from the sail boat on the other side of the dock boasting about his 40 hp diesel!

Love this thread. Will the rigging/interior be completed in time for the show?

Here is another shot of Bob and me with Rocky Aoki of Benihana fame. This was the year before Rocky passed.

Thanks to John Hagin of Geico racing, we were asked to come to Point Pleasant for the race that year and were honored ...along with others...as "The Legends of Offshore"

We were asked to be on board the pace boats for the races. When it was time to get on the boats assigned to each of us for the different classes, we found ourselves all alone in a dusty marina parking lot, as the organizers scurried about trying to find the pace boats. I looked at the other two guys and said......So, this is what it means to be famous ocean racing legends!!

We all laughed and eventually they found two boats, both Apaches. Rocky was on a 36 footer if I remember correctly... and I was on a 47 footer with triples as throttleman. When the flag dropped, they had to keep reminding me that the pace boat backs off and let's the pack go by. Sorry.....Old habits die hard.

Bobby's boat never did show up and he went and had lunch at Jenkinson's with his brother. He said he had a great time.
