    No external steering
. If Iwas staying this route, it would get it for sure as I would be building something in the 5~600 hp range. But its going outboard after the summer.

I like outboards, I have worked on them most of my life. I could make a pretty good argument that a BBC would be less expensive to operate then a big outboard you mentioned. I say embrace the BBC If you want to race an outboard buy an outboard boat. In the mean time enjoy this one for what it is a BBC stern drive. I would suggest you don't pass up any good deals on stuff needed to keep it a stern drive boat.

Just sayin. Its your program and I will be rooting for you.

I can help you get things back in order once your engine is dressed. I have gotten sort of familiar with empty space to big block conversions.

You have a great advantage in that you are only doing one and don't have to find two matching of anything. That will help. Because I built identical twins, I am able to offer the following if you'd like any of it:
    Oil pan
Balancer (internal or external... your pick)
    Flywheel
Coupler (choice of two, I did new ones because of "Mightaswellitis")

I may also have a battery that didn't get used with a little climate controlled shelf life. Probably pretty stout.

I'll look around this weekend and see if anything else jumps out.

I don't know what I will need untill its time to need it and I cant find it. Though I think Im sitting pretty good. got offshore mounts, upgraded guages and controls coming. My tabs have me a bit perplexed though. can't find a pump much less a hose in the bilge, I think they may be electric??? I know I am going to need a new bilge pump for peace of mind and a new battery. I have 3 props so hopefully one of them works good. End of september is when it really starts, completely derigging, doing the bottom, paint, convert to sitdown, new interior etc.... I do need some of those big rocker trim switches...

I'd bet on a missing pump before electric.

From the looks of the rams, they appear to be the Lenco electric tabs. You should be abble to see with how the wire is coming through the transom instead of hydraulic lines.
