05-24-2019 03:13 PMThis Memorial Day weekend, I remember and honor MSG Gary Ivan Gordon.
MSG Gordon received the Medal of Honor for his valor during Operation Gothic Serpent (Battle of Mogadishu) in 1993.
MSG Gordon provided cover fire from the air, and then insisted on taking a position on the ground near the first downed Blackhawk (Super Six-Four) to protect four members of the team.
We are poorer as a nation for this loss, but we are free because of men like MSG. Gordon.
