We have tough tree laws here, but we need them. If you cut down a tree you have to plant so many new ones according to size and species. My friends just had to take down a 150+ year old Mahogany because it was completely hollow in its base, and was very dangerous in their backyard. They have 6 months to plant 8 indigenous trees.
Hi Ho's! Same with here, but we have 12months to replant.

When it comes down to it, I've really got a foot in each camp or perhaps I'm pragmatic. I'm not for denuding the forests and putting up endless subdivisions and strip mall nor am I for extremist liberal policies that have silly ramifications. I'm for intelligent and enlightened stewardship over our resources, and that's going to mean different thing in different situations.
I agree, just figured the video was worth a peek.
A fear of mine is urban logging. I live in an urban forest. Hard to even have a garden. Evestroughs are always full. But it's worth it. A house near mine with an enormous, healthy old growth oak was sold in foreclosure for much less than the tree was worth. So a guy down the street bought it, sold the tree to a logging company, they came in and harvested it, and now the house is a rental on a treeless lot.

Interesting drive home . Running about 55 MPH through the Saddlebunch Keys and the right front tire goes BLAMMMMMMMM! Used up most of the road and shoulder to stop....she really wanted to go in the ocean bad....no spare of course (company truck) had to borrow an old wheel and tire to get home....I'll deal with it on Monday.

Impressive! I had 500K kilometers on a BMW that my parents bought new. 325IX all wheel drive. I was planning on changing the timing belt but before I could it snapped. Still miss that car. It was awesome in the snow.

It takes me about 20 minutes to drive into town. I often see this old guy walking on the route into town. On my way home from dinner I see him walking. Its dark out and raining, so I decided to see if he needed a ride. Turn out he lives 2 streets over from me. He was appreciative of the ride. Told he walks into town every day. He's 90 and his wife past away and they had no children. He can't afford car insurance. The only thing he has is his cat. If it wasn't for the cat he'd move closer to town, but non of the aparments he can afford allow pets. I should have given him a lift sooner.
