Super Boat Key West World Championships Receives Commitment Through 2013
Key West Hotels Already Filling Up for 2012 November Race

Key West (August 10th, 2012) – Super Boat International (SBI) is excited to announce the recent funding commitment from the Monroe County Tourist Development Council (TDC) for Super Boat Racing and the Key West World Championships held in Key West, Florida through 2013. The famous powerboat race held every November in Key West is recognized around the world as the marquee event for offshore racing. The weeklong sporting event brings racers, celebrities, media and fans from around the world and provides an unprecedented economic impact to the lower keys and Key West.

The founder and President of Super Boat International, John Carbonell comments on the TDC’s commitment to boat racing through 2013. “We go through this process every year and have been fortunate to continue to receive the welcoming from the TDC and their sincere appreciation for what we do. Our fan base has grown over the years to include homeland and international fans as shown by the increase in attendance each year. We are very proud to be the premier sporting event held here in Key West and we are committed to putting on a great show.”

Last November was very tough for so many of our racing families. There isn’t a day that goes by that the racing community doesn’t become even more supportive and united. City Commissioner and Vice President of the Conch Republic Powerboat Racing Association, Mark Rossi comments about this November’s race. “We are only four months away from this year’s Superboat race and our community is ready. In fact, it’s great to see how everyone has come together and see the TDC’s support for Super Boat racing through 2013.”
The Key West World Championships is always a sell-out event and hotel room vacancies are nowhere to be found in Key West and the lower keys. This year is no different. The community continues to support the event and hotels have been selling out for the November race. As usual for this event, race teams and fans should reserve rooms now to avoid last minute lodging issues. Fans can purchase VIP tickets here for race day viewing and hospitality.

Super Boat International continues to showcase the world’s most exciting powerboats from around the world and this year has been no exception. Several teams have bought new boats, expanded their team to two boat teams and many have increased their horsepower under the hatch. This November will be a very exciting race with many of the world’s best racers and race teams. Be sure to visit us at Superboat.com/2012-key-west-schedule for updated information.
