Just got off the phone with a friend from NJ, telling me of a major incident involving the Mystic Cat, turbine boat, "My Way'. Initial report, all are OK. Some up there are saying the boat almost flipped, high in the air, and hit hard two times. Confirmed, PORT side from the cockpit to the transom, just about gone.

Second major incident with the boat in just over a month. Sure glad all are okay. Teague showed me that pic on his phone yesterday when he received it. We were concerned to say the least.

As high as it went up on the third bounce they are extremely lucky, for the second time in a month or so, that they are still walking around.

And I did go read some of the stuff about boat wakes. What a bunch of crap. I suppose they would expect the ships, tugs, and barges to go no wake when they are on the water also? I can hear it now, "Hey, I want to go 200 on this river, you all need to slow down to no wake so I can do that".

Ever hear of running a race boat in a race? There is a reason that Geico ran their turbine boat in races and not poker runs.

The article that Matt wrote after their first incident obviously did not sink in at all. Maybe this incident will get them off the water permanently. If you look at the first spinout, supposedly at around 190MPH (but for sure based on witness reports over 160mph), if it had happened about 2 seconds earlier the people in the slow boat they buzzed would all be dead.

Here's how close they were to it being over on this incident. Ask the cat guys who have survived flips how close they were...

Mostly revolved around who's fault this was...
Cruiser making the wake or driver going high speed over it...

I have been on the racecourse, longer than most, back when we had 22-26 boats in a class!
I built 3 Skaters, currently own one of them, and have driven a bunch more.
Just to be clear, cats turn great!

I like to go extremely fast, so I do it on the racecourse, with a jacket, helmet, other safety
systems, and YES the course is closed, and with medical and response personnel in boats and in the air.

Lucky? This boat was a bazillion-th of a second away, from potentially killing everyone involved.

I am very glad no one was injured or killed.

Can you image, a family acting responsibly and enjoying a cruise on the water, being completely
devastated, in an accident, by one of these 'deep pocket' cowboys? Would we all be 'guilty' by association?
Would we all lose the privilege to responsibility enjoy our 'go-fast' boats?

Lets learn from this, and begin to take responsibility for our actions on the water, by acting responsibly.
If you want to own a 'race boat' and drive it at 'race' speeds, do it on the racecourse!
