OSS Heading to the Crystal Coast Grand Prix

    Euless, Texas
    For Immediate Release

The Offshore Super Series (OSS) has announced that they will be joining Powerboat P1 USA, under the sanction of the American Power Boat Association (APBA), at the September 14 – 16, 2012 Morehead City North Carolina event. OSS is currently working with the race producers, Jeff and Keri McCann, on finalizing the details for the OSS teams.

This will be the 7th year for the Crystal Coast Grand Prix (CCGP) that is held in the Old Town Waterfront District of the port town of Morehead City. Race Village will be located just south of US Highway 70 at 6th Street. Fans can view the races from either Jack’s Waterfront Bar or at a special VIP viewing area setup on the property of the Port of Morehead City.

As in previous years, both Friday and Saturday nights will feature a Sponsor / Racer Appreciation Dinner with complimentary food and beverage each evening. These meet and greet events will be held at Jack’s Waterfront Bar on Evans St. All Racers and Crew members are encouraged to attend.

Returning again this year, the Crystal Coast Car and Bike show will be on Saturday; the 15th showcasing some the best classic cars, hotrods and custom bikes in the area. This is a free event and the gates will open at 9 AM. Be sure to stop by and check out the great display of two, three and four wheel vehicles.

Updates on this event will be posted on the official web sites of both the CCGP and OSS Crystal Coast GRand Prix | The Largest Speed Boat Race in NC! or Offshore Super Series and will be sent to the OSS members as they become available. Please make plans to attend this event. Currently, the host hotels are the Sheraton Atlantic Beach 252-240-1155 and the Hampton Inn 252-240-2300.

Same weekend as Solomons Island Md. Many racers will choose Md, over Nc. expecially because of TV coverage. Organizers need to try harder to schedule these events so racers can attend both.

I can answer this one, because it was the one major overlap on races this year....

Solomon Islands was first set up for a different date, which happened to be the same date as an SBI event in Florida. When the schedule came out, the organizers at Morehead looked at the schedule for the organizations and decided to make it on the date it is because it interfered with nothing, a completely open date. Then, Geico notified the SBI organizers at Solomon Islands they would be going to the SBI event instead of the OPA event. So, after the fact, Solomons rescheduled on top of the Morehead event so Geico would come to their race.

So we can blame this on Geico! I'm suprised Geico would choose SBI race after what happened the year before last,( the law suit.)

Odd, I was just looking at Scotty's announcement of their new Tequila sponsor, and he doesn't show Solomons as a race they are attending????

Geico raced all last yr with SBI, and your suprised Lol.
Geico races for their sponsor, and they chose where it is best for them to race pretty simple.

I really hope the guys get a decent turnout, and have great weather. It's too bad of the date confliction with Solomons. I know it's not their fault, but still too bad.
