Someone made a comment about having cable growing up but the options were limited. We lived on the farm. You had cable if you lived in town. We got three channels..ABC, NBC, and CBS. If the president had something to say you were screwed. I was 23 before I had the privilege of having cable. By then MTV was a thing of the past and music videos were pretty much no more. I got screwed on that deal.

I thought we were the only people in the world that were fortunate enough to have a PONG. None of my friends ever got one. That was the last video game system I was given until my wife gave me a PS2 at the age of 30. Everyone else had Atari and so on.

I was born in Omaha and my parents moved to Arkansas in 1977. I was 8 years old at the time. When we left Omaha we had call forwarding and call waiting on our home phone. My dad used it a lot for work. It was 1988 and I was a senior in High School before it was an option down here. We had a party line that we shared with 6 other homes on our road until 1987.

I can remember having to break ice on the pond twice a day so the cattle could have something to drink. This lasted all winter long. I can remember ice being 10" think on that damn pond. So thick dad could drive his truck on it. Two weeks ago was the first time in over 20 years it's been cold enough for a pond to freeze around here. I live 7 miles from where I grew up. I don't believe in global warming, but I know for a fact weather patterns have changed drastically.

They closed school here two weeks ago because it got down to 0 degrees one night. Parents were *****ing that their kids would get hypothermia while waiting on the bus. I laughed when I saw that one. My arse would have been outside working all day if I wasn't in school regardless of the temperature. I told them to put a heavier coat on them and they'd be fine. Treat like babies now and they will stay that way. Apparently my comments didn't go over to well with some of the breast feeding mommies.
A thong is like a barbed wire fence, it protects the property but doesn't ruin the scenery.

    Speaking of 30 yrs ago...
Last night I watched a re-play of the Royal Wedding. It was worth watching again. This time they had pop-ups with info from behind the scenes. I think my favorite pop-up was the Queen trying Not to laugh when the conducter knocked a lamp shad off one of the lights near his (L) arm in Westminster Abbey. Made her seem like any other person with a sense of humor.

Pretty close to my old pride and joy...
No tassles though, 3 speed thumb shifter mounted on the ape hangers.
I did have the front tire driven cable speedometer like this one too.

Ah, to be 10-12 years old again...

I had the thumb shift too. But I think it was five speed.
Mine was "burnt orange." I was probably 9.
I didn't have the speedo though. Also no tassles.

In my teens, I turned it into a really heavy BMX bike.
