This story is hard to believe. Upwards of 50 Bears, Lions, Cheetahs, Tigers, Wolves, etc have escaped (let go by some friggin idiot) and now they have killed about 30 to 35 and are hunting down the rest!!

Can't imagine the mess that could cause.

"Mom, there's a lion eating sis in the backyard."

"Yeah right, what did I tell you about drugs at your age?"

My crew has been working in Zanesville for the past few weeks. Good thing its raining today.

For those not familiar with the Zanesville area, I guarentee you some of theese critters will be shot and grilled by the local redneck population.

    Sad.

The owner of the preserve, an "interesting character" who flew planes, raced boats and owned a custom motorcycle and gun shop killed himself just after cutting the latches off of the cages so that the animals could not be put back in. (USA Today)

A few things that you have to understand is that A. there probably isnt a single law enforcement agency in the entire state that has the equipment or training to tranquilize theese sort of animals. B. Jack Hannah himself was on the news saying that trying to capture theese critters in the dark is not an option. and C. most zoos will not take un documented animals due to quarantine and disease issues. While I dont exactly condone the outright killing of theese things, the local LEOs dont have a whole lot of options.

    They did try

Efforts to tranquilize some animals failed. In one incident Wednesday morning, a veterinarian tried to tranquilize a 300-pound tiger, Mr. Lutz said. "This thing just went crazy. It started to run into the wooded area and our officers took it down."

Yeah. Hanna has been clear about how few options there were in an urban area, once someone had essentially horded dangerous animals. Human life took priority and one child would have been 100% too many.
I agree with the outrage of the killings but turn my eye to the owner as the catalyst.
We'd be having a different discussion if a three year old girl had been mauled. Just saying.

They interviewed the local yocal in Stoney Ridge that does something similar, but he doesn't have quite as many. I drive by it all the time, just don't understand why he keeps them. Same story tho, bunch of tigers and lions all kept in cages and pens.

From everything I've heard and read, they had no choice. I believe they were able to capture 6 and that 8 were still in their cages not released. I'm not completely positive of the final numbers, I don't believe they are either.....

In this particular case, the so-called authorities in the area should be prosecuted for animal abuse in my opinion. This guy was in jail for gun violations, had been convicted in the past for animal abuse, but they allow him to keep exotic animals?

For some reason we do not go to root cause of issues and get the idiots who allow conditions like this to happen through their stupidity, but try to make sense of the end result, which is a terrible tragedy that never should have gotten to this end.

Kind of like the parole boards who let child molesters/killers out early, then sit in shock when they do it again. They should spend the rest of their lives in jail as accomplices to murder with the azzholes. The final result would be an end to the root cause of the repeat offenders, the idiots who set the situation up to happen......
