Hall of Famer Troy Aikman joined the fray in addressing Deflategate. In his weekly interview on SportsRadio 1310 AM and 96.7 FM in Dallas, Aikman said "it's obvious that Tom Brady had something to do with this."

The two best players on the Patriot team last night were the kid who made that interception and the guy who called the play for Seattle in the first place.

They had time to burn, a down to burn, and it was short yards. Wtf?

It must have been President Obama that called in what will go down as the DUMBEST PLAY IN THE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL. Same thought process!

    Will this do?

Meanwhile the Pats’ hero, diminutive wide receiver Julian Edelman, absorbed a massive helmet-to-helmet hit from Seahawks strong safety Kam Chancellor early on in the 4th quarter and appeared wobbly and slow to get up following the collision. According to Detroit Free Press reporter Dave Birkett, the Patriots’ medical personnel requested he be checked for a concussion—but the request was ignored, and Edelman remained on the field for the rest of the drive. Later, he’d score the game-winning touchdown.

When asked in his post-game interview if he was tested for a concussion, Edelman remained tight-lipped, though he did refer to Seattle as “St. Louis” before correcting himself. And he’s sustained head injuries in the past, missing the final two games of the regular season with a bad concussion.

Deflate-gate triggers stat spat as analysts attempt to solve why Patriots don't fumble

Sharp’s idea was to look at fumbles. That led him to a more refined topic: how well the Patriots held onto the ball both before and after the 2006 season, which happened to be the year Brady and Peyton Manning pushed for a rule change which allowed each team to provide their own footballs for games.

“Something significant changed from 2006 to 2007 that allowed them to retain the football,” Sharp said by phone Tuesday, “and that continues today.”

According to Sharp’s calculations, the Patriots’ fumble rate was 42 touches per fumble from 2000 through 2006. That was about the league average. Since 2007, however, that rate has dropped dramatically, to 74 touches per fumble. Over that time, the Pats are the best team in the NFL at holding onto the ball, even including dome teams.

“Based upon the data we’ve collected and the probabilities, it definitely is extremely unlikely that their ability to hold onto the football would change so much and be as far away from the rest of the NFL,” Sharp said. “It’s extremely unlikely.”

Subject: NEWS FLASH!!! -- PETE CARROLL LEAVIING THE SEAHAWKS

    Late-breaking story from ESPN Sportscenter ... 2/17/2015

Pete Carroll, former head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, is reported to be very near to signing-on as a special consultant to The Pope, in Vatican City.

The Pope looks to recruit Carroll to be a spokesman for the Catholic Church, because Pete is the first man in history who made 100 million people jump up and yell: "Jesus Christ!" at the same time.

More information will be reported as this story is followed.

This seems to be even worse. So if you're falling out of bounds now, it is no longer a catch?

NFL changes rule but says Dez Bryant still didn't make a catch

Let's get this out of the way: Dez Bryant made a catch against the Packers in the 2015 divisional playoffs. I know it. You know it. The Universe knows it.

But the NFL? It still doesn't.

The league changed its confusing and vaguely worded rules for what constitutes a catch on Monday only to replace them with something just as vague, according to Ian Rapoport .

In the past, players had to "make a football move" in order to establish a catch. Coincidentally, no one knew what that meant, so everyone just tried to hold on as best they could and hope it didn't ruin their momentum in a playoff game.

Now, the rule says that players will need to "establish themselves as a runner".

I wonder which part of Bryant's catch didn't count as establishing himself as a runner? Was it changing the ball to his other hand? Reaching for the goal line?

Hmm. Since no one knows what it really means, it's likely everyone just keeps doing what they're doing.

You know ... trying to hold on as best they can. Hoping it doesn't ruin a playoff game.
