This season’s 6.3 percent decline in ratings represents $500 million in lost revenue for the NFL’s television partners, Fox, CBS, NBC and ESPN, according to Outkick the Coverage’s Clay Travis in a Nov. 16 report.

The first and second Thanksgiving games registered the lowest ratings in those time slots since 2008, while the third contest between the New York Giants and Washington Redskins saw the smallest viewership since NBC began airing the primetime game in 2012.

I forgot about NFL. I did some gunsmithing and built a fire and watched Enemy at the Gate, which I had never seen. Technical accuracy was pretty good, but they grossly under-represented the muzzle flash of a 91/30.

This week’s national anthem protesters around the league were the usual die-hards, most of them adamant about keeping their actions alive for the foreseeable future.

Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters stayed off the field for the national anthem, as he has for most of the season. His Sunday opponents, the Miami Dolphins, saw Kenny Stills and Michael Thomas take a knee during the anthem.

Tennessee Titans receiver Rishard Matthews also remained off the field until the end of the national anthem, as he has done for all but Veterans Day celebrations. Three other Titans players raised fists at the end of the anthem.

For the Los Angeles Rams, linebacker Robert Quinn raised his fist during the anthem prior to his team’s game., with punter Johnny Hekker again draping an arm around him in support. Running back Todd Gurley and wide receiver Tavon Austin locked arms.

Miami Dolphins players receiver Kenny Stills and safety Michael Thomas kneeled during the anthem prior to their game, continuing a pattern they’ve established throughout the season.

New Orleans Saints players took a knee before the anthem, but stood once the song began, continuing a season-long tradition for the team.

In the late afternoon games, the Seattle Seahawks again led the league in protesters. Defensive linemen Nazair Jones, Sheldon Richardson, Dion Jordan, Jarran Reed, Cliff Avril, Michael Bennett, Marcus Smith, Quinton Jefferson, Frank Clark and Branden Jackson all took a seat during the national anthem, joined by linebacker Paul Dawson. Left tackle Duane Brown took a knee next to the group, with center Justin Britt holding his hand on Brown’s shoulder in solidarity.

Close behind in the protester standings (if not the “games won” standings) are the San Francisco 49ers. For the Niners, safety Eric Reid, linebacker Eli Harold, and receivers Marquise Goodwin and Louis Murphy all took a knee during the national anthem. Safety Adrian Colbert stood next to them in a show of support.

In Arizona, New York Giants defensive end Olivier Vernon again took a knee during the national anthem. One of the highest-paid defensive players in football, Vernon has vowed to continue the action into the foreseeable future.

On Saturday, Los Angeles Chargers left tackle Russell Okung again raised a fist in the air during the national anthem, as he has done all season.

But, we're making a dent. I do wish the tax-exemption would have ended though.....

In week 15 of the NFL season, average television viewership fell 9 percent from the same week last season, according to Nielsen, which measures television audience sizes. Week 14 was 8.4 percent lower compared with 2016.
All told, the NFL is averaging 15 million viewers per game, compared with 16.6 million last year, Nielsen reported.

The anthem protests plagued the league all season long. They also escalated into a feud between the NFL and President Trump, who threatened to end the use of tax-exempt municipal bonds to build stadiums.

An early version of the Republican tax bill eliminated this perk for sports leagues, which a Brookings Institution study estimates to cost the federal government $3.7 billion in lost tax revenue. However, the final version of the bill, which Mr. Trump signed Friday, preserved the stadium construction tax breaks.

Tumbling ratings are reflected at the national and local levels, where 25 teams are coming in lower than last year, according to Nielsen. In New York, the nation’s largest media market, ratings for the Giants are down 7 percent and Jets ratings have plummeted 37 percent. Viewership of the Dallas Cowboys has declined by 7 percent.

    How about this????

The 2017 NFL season will end a few hours early this year, as the league has decided to cancel its Sunday night game.

Instead of ending with a traditional night game, which usually features two playoff contenders, the season will wrap up with a heavier-than-usual afternoon slate of gridiron battles. The reason? Ratings.

It is very interesting that they would cancel a NFL game due to low ratings.

    Gotta love it.......

I suggest not showing up wearing any Jaguars gear. Remember you need the money.

Was it just me or were there less replays shown then normal. That one 4th quarter play was ruled complete in the red zone. It showed one AND ONLY ONE replay and the ball had bounced off the ground as the player went down back into his grasp. It was never reviewed and got overlooked. Brady scored a few plays later.
