the engine was rebuilt ( rings and Bearings gaskets and seals only) i ran it on break in oil 40w ran the engine up to 4000 rpm,s for about 1/2 hour ,,everything ran great ,,went back to the shop ,changed the oil and filter ,went out again with the new driver ,ran it all out 5450 on the limiter ,,the boat was fast ,,so we stoped and looked into the bilge , and found about 4 qts of oil in front of the engine ,,,logic would dictate the only thing you changed was the filter ,,so i put on a new one ,,went back out ,,with the same results ,,,sugestions from great people ,,,timing cover seal ,,changed twice,,timing cover gkt,,changed ,,no help ,,,check bolt holes in front of engine ,,none open nor leaking,,, it does not do it on the hose ran up to 5000 until i ran out of water pressure,, so ,,if someone is suggesting foul play , i would gladly welcome you or anyone you might know to come down and run this boat,or gladly would listen to any more suggestions ,the critics might have,,,thanks in advance hhmmmmm

    Then I'm going with blowby...

Anyway, if I were closer, I'd ride in the engine compartment while you were hammering on it and figure this out for you.....

Check oil filter and make sure the gasket is there or that you dont have the old one still on giving you 2 gaskets.

Put a camera in the bilge.

I was found a water leak only after removing the hatch and riding in the bilge at speed. I found the water was marching UP AND FORWARD on a tail pipe and landing on the intake.. I was watching it and couldn't believe it.. I experienced a HELL ride once in a bilge at a 100 mph. Now I believe a camera in the engine bay is better than a body.

yea ,,i,m not getting in the bilge ,,,but ,,I pulled the engine ,,started tearing down the pumps ,,pullys,,tanks ,,ect ,,,got to the timing cover ,,looked at it real close ,,what looked like a paint run ,,turns out to be cracked around the seal to oil pan ,,and the oil is being forced out by blow-by,pressure,,,i don,t think the rings are seated yet ,,,

SO WHAT DO I DO ?? KEEP GOING and replace the rings ,,or replace the timing cover and run in the rings ??

I'd rather be on the boat with a drink on the rocks, than in the drink with my boat on the rocks.

Just received a PM from Cocoa Beach.....

Looks as if the Activator is the official winner of SVL. Steve only made it for 9 of the 10 laps, Mark finished them all.

Congratulations Mark, 3 years of hard work and testing paying off.......

Mark in the Activator last year in Michigan City...

great turn out ,good racing,,,congrads to Mark and Frank ,,Steve ,,somewhere along the line,,, missed mileage ,,( we,ve all done it ) the race was 10 laps 54 miles on a 5,4 mile course,,,as they crossed the start finish line,, the onboard gps read 56,?? miles ,,so I think they assumed the race was over,,,only to see Mark And Frank bolt by and fade off into the distance to catch the first checkerd flag of the SBI SVL SEASON,,, the Cat Outboards put on the best race i,v seen in a long time,,great job teams ,,my 2 cents
