    old school 272 SR1 is a BIG 27 (30 ft) twin engine.......newer 271 fastech is 27ft total and a single.

    There was a guy from the Cayman Islands with t/ blown 454s claiming near 600 hp each minus the silent thunder and running 2" shorties from Imco claiming 90 mph with a 272. He was last seen on OSO.

    Mine has the ST and standard length Bravos that go half way to China so I'm sure I could pick up a little more myself with shorties

    I remember hearing about a 382 with arnesons in California running big numbers 115-120mph

    My Bravos go half way to China too. That cracked me up.

    A friend with a 242 with a warmed over HP 500 just bought a shorty for his because he's stuck at 70 and trying for more

    I love 242s. Great boat. I think 70 is a big speed for that boat.

    I don't think he'll see 80...more like 73 MAYBE 74 but you're right particularly without hydraulic steering
