03darkshadow, I have a 22 Velocity and boat on the upper bay. I don't know where you plan on going on the bay, but I have been down to the bay bridge on mine. It can get really nasty real quick on the bay!! I am ok with the ride I get out of my boat on most days. You would also get a good ride out of one of the 24X7 boats like the Pantera, Python, Superboat, etc. etc.
Good Luck

if/when I get something we'll have to go grab a beer.

12-03-2008 10:43 AMWhat about a 24 banana? They are made from the old 24 Cigarette molds....can't get a better real water boat than that. Plus they are 8 feet wide, not 7 like the other 24 brands.
We just took one in trade on a new 24 banana, and it sold within a week. Try posting on the banana boat section, maybe some owners are looking to get out or move up.
the website is www.bananaboatco.comLight travels faster than sound....that is why some people appear bright until we hear them speak!!

I think a Baja 24 Outlaw would be a good starter for you and there should be plenty of decent ones in your price range. Handle the rough pretty well, standup bolsters and will run around 60-62 with with a 454 mag. It will feel like a bigger boat compared to the 24'x7' boats.
Keep the costs of financing and insurance in mind. Rates are gonna be pricey on both.

so the baja 24 outlaw is a 23 degree deadrise. and the pantera, sb, etc are 24 degrees. what about the 24 or 25 sunsation, I saw a 24 on s and fly and kind of like it, i just dont know its deadrise or how they handle some rough water.

Very good call!!!
Such beautiful lines on those boats.
I WILL have an old 27' Mag in the stable one day next to the Pantera. Also have a Mistress on that list.
You can find 24's both stand-up and sit-down.
But, If you intend to stand, there isn't much freeboard.
I'm setting mine up as a sit-down. Considered the bolsters, but as someone else once said, at about 6' tall, standing in this boat, "I'd stick out like a boner in sweat-pants"."Keep the bottle on the bar Ira, I won't be long".
