In Patchauge we took a vote and all the teams in attendance seemed to like the idea of receiving money to attend the OPA World Championship Races in Orange Beach. So here's the details of how it will work.

The Orange Beach Prize Purse is $50,000.

OPA will pay $1000 to each team that shows up and takes a green flag start.

If 45 boats show up, that leaves $5000 to be paid out to the Winners in each class - no additional payments to 2nd and 3rd since everyone was paid $1000 already.

If 55 boats show up, OPA will still pay $1000 to each boat takes a green flag start.

This offer is being made to any team that is registered with OPA, OSS, SBI or POPRA during the 2010 racing season. Additionally, there will be no Registration fees or Race Entry fees collected, so you can spend your money with the businesses in Orange Beach instead. Any non - registered boats can race for no fee but will not receive the $1000.

So just bring it and race, leave the BS on the beach. Lets see who's the best in Orange Beach.

    Sounds like a good plan....
I know a lot of guys are running short on money at the end of the season...
This will get everyone there...and no fees....
    Hhhmmmm....getting paid to race....
Ron..I think this is a first...

    Just my 2cents

What if Teams from the other Orgs that are not current OPA members were to receive a 2011 OPA membership instead of the $1000.00 for showing up for 1 race for free. I think in fairness to the current members that have raced the entire season with OPA this is a good way to promote a higher boat count not only for Orange Beach but for next years entire OPA season? Again just an idea

I live in the Florida Panhandle, (I-10 Exit 70 area), and would like to offer:
First, the best of plans have a snag here and there. If any team should have a breakdown on the way, I will come to them and pull their boat in, carry a few passengers, or do whatever I can to help them to get to Orange Beach.
Secondly, if the need should arise, I have the ability to store your boat on our 95 acre, rural, very nice farm. Security is of the best, (400 pounds of dogs for starters.), and it is an easy location to get to from Interstate 10.

I should have offered this above:
I suggest that you copy and carry my phone number: Frankie Cee 850.902.7176,
Call me 24/7 if you have trouble and could use my help. This is not a "for hire" thing, and all I would expect would be expenses.

Good luck to all race teams, have a safe and enjoyable race. You are going to love Orange Beach, the people are some of the friendliest around. To the photographers, thanks in advance for making those of us who are unable to attend, feel like we were there.

That would be great. Even though we have a condo in Orange Beach, I will be in Ohio, walking my daughter down the aisle.
