    timing on a 540ci n/a
    #1
Just curious where the timing should be set. Its at 32 at 3000rpm right now and my rpms are short at least 500-700rpm. Im sure the easiest way is turn it up til it clatters and back it down, but just curious on opinions. Only gettin about 4400rpm now and its rated for 4800-5200. Prop is not the issue. I have tried a range from 26p to 32p. Thanks.

Went from a stock dual plane and a 750 to a single plane victor, 1050 dominator with 94 jets, went from 3/8 lines and adapter fittings with stock pump to a 110 gph holley pump and 1/2 in lines up to 5/16 carb line and bumped timing up to 35-36 ish and im only up to 4700 rpm. Now at 72.5mph gps with a 28p 4 blade. Best i had seen previous to changes was 4500 rpm at 71mph. Prop is still considerably too small. Ignition system is basicly stock 454. Could this be killing my rpms? Need to be around 5000. If not ign, does anyone have any other ideas?
