    I know I read something about the optional cav plate somewhere but can't find it...

    Is there anything to gain by removing the plate, if I still can get on plane etc.

    If you trim them above 0 they shouldn't effect your top end. Getting on plan with out them will test your patience!!

    The props used for surface drives is way different so that should have something to do with it.
