    i came in from a hard ride sunday, raised the hatch and gear oil everywhere. the next day i drained the drive and there was about 40%water to 60 oil of what was left in the drive. PanteraM24 ssm3 drive. What gave!!! Thanks Jaime

    I had same problem on the Bravo XR, but luckly I had virtually no water in the unit. I cought it just in time.

    It could be the bellows. When was it last changed? I had the same problem last year. Mine looked ok, but when I inspected it closer there was 2 small holes. Did you have any water in the boat as well?

    Leaks past the main seal on the drive shaft.

    The upper has only one seal it holds lube in. It does not have two seals one of which holds water out like a prop shaft.. So yes, if water is in the bellows it WILL get in the drive..

    Seal could be gone too. But that's another issue. He's getting water in the lube not losing lube. Water gets in the bellows and leaks past the seal. The seal is not meant to keep water out.
